A MARQUEE WEDDING AT HOME IN NORFOLK

PHOTOGRAPHED BY KATIE JULIA

Working with Francesca and Bernard to plan their micro-wedding amidst the challenges of COVID-19 was a true honour for our team, fuelled by resilience and creativity, along with their love for one another as the forefront of our focus. Originally planning a grand, avant-garde celebration, their dreams were put on hold due to the national lockdown. However, within around 8 weeks we had transformed this very same vision into a stunning yet intimate wedding, keeping everyone on standby for the moment when government guidelines allowed for 30 guests.

Although we were now working with a scaled-down guest list of just 26 friends and family, Francesca had her heart set on elevating the occasion so that it was infused with luxury and experience. The network of suppliers on hand played a pivotal role, patiently accommodating date changes and working tirelessly with our team to bring the couple’s wedding dreams to life. The ceremony took place in a church, followed by a decadent four-course dinner featuring locally sourced delicacies. And although the guest list was smaller than we had originally anticipated, we didn’t compromise on the atmosphere of the occasion, weaving in breathtaking florals, low-level lighting and elegant cut crystal glassware.

In adherence to the safety protocols at the time, Francesca and Bernard’s guests received branded face masks and hand sanitisers, while dining tables were strategically spaced. This luxury micro-wedding may have deviated from traditional norms, but it was without a doubt, extraordinary. The day served to remind us that small weddings can still be the epitome of style and sophistication, often surpassing the intimacy and magic behind larger-orchestrated occasions. In fact, their wedding showcases that love, strength and a little ‘extra’ can often have the most impact, no matter what the circumstances may be.
